Freebie flash! Choose a Hobb, pick a Putney

Freebie flash! Choose a Hobb, pick a Putney

As usual, I don’t vouch for these books, and they come from companies that are not (to my knowledge) blocking text-to-speech. As promotional titles, they may not be free for long. Note: these books are free in the USA: prices in other countries may vary.

Dragon Keeper
By Robin Hobb
Published by HarperCollins (a general interest publisher)

Hobb is a bestselling and award-winning fantasy author.  This book features humans and dragons working together.   It’s probably worth noting that this is the first part of a “duology”.   It’s big enough at 756kb to be a full novel (Amazon figures 800kb average), but you might end up with an incomplete story (like only reading one of the Lord of the Rings books).

Loving a Lost Lord
By Mary Jo Putney
Published by Zebra Books (a mostly historical romance imprint of Kensington, a general publisher)

Putney is a RITA winning romance author.  This is the first of a new series, set in 19th century England.

I haven’t checked the copy on my Kindle yet, but I’m pretty sure the Robin Hobb book is a full novel, just the first one in a two book series. This one continues her story of the Bingtown Traders (Ship of Magic, Mad Ship, and Ship of Destiny).

      Thanks, FSkornia!

That was my guess…I mentioned it was long enough for a novel, and that it might be like reading one of the Lord of the Rings books…where you don’t get an end to the story unless you read the other book(s). When you finish, I’d appreciate you letting me know if somebody could read it as a standalone.
