Here’s the kicker on this one: the deadline to accept this offer is 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time), December 10, 2011 (Saturday). You have to click it on your Kindle by then.
You’ll then get an e-mail, and you’ll enter a code (you can copy and paste it from the e-mail). You must select your book by January 7, 2012 (Millard Fillmore’s birthday…but you knew that, right?).

Hey Bufo,
I was looking to turn on special offers but it says they’ll charge me to turn it off? So I hesitate to turn it on. I’ve got the kindle 3. Do you know if that charge would apply to me?

If when you bought your K3, you paid a discounted price because it came with Special Offers, than you pay the difference if you opt out of them.
If you paid full price when you got it, you can turn them on and off repeatedly with no charge.

It was not clear that the price would be a “credit” on your receipt. (Maybe all of you already know this … ) I entered my received promo code, chose a book, but the page stated it was $8.99 still. All I could do is hit “Buy with 1 Click.” Got into a chat with Amazon, and was told to proceed. And I did – the receipt was sent to me with the charge and instant credit – zero cost for the title.

Yes, you’re right…I should have mentioned that. It always works that way…I’ve written about it before, but didn’t include the information this time. I’ll be careful to include it on the next special.
