I am writing this on my phone so I’ll keep it short.
If you have a Special Offers Kindle sync with Amazon to check for a deal ($49?) on (refurbished?) Mindle (the $79/$109 Kindle.
If you can comment with more details that would be great!

Hi Bufo – I saw this deal online. It’s a Groupon-esque deal, called AmazonLocal. Here’s the url – http://tinyurl.com/cpxonw2
It’s free to buy and you get a $20 voucher good on a refurbished Kindle (Mindle in your speak). That takes the price on a refurb down to $49.00. You have to “buy” the voucher today by midnight, you have to use it by the 29th.

Thanks for writing, Dave!
I appreciate that clarity.

Bufo, I see the special offer on my Kindle sleep screen. It shows a basic Kindle and reads “A Refurbished Kindle for Only $49″ and adds in tiny type: “Limited Quantity Available.” Tapping for details from my home screen, I see a free voucher worth $20 off a “Certified Refurbished Kindle.” The voucher must be redeemed by May 29, 2012. Ships only to US addresses. One per customer. Voucher is valid for $20 off the regular price of $69 for a Certified Refurbished Kindle with Special Offers from Amazon.com . Customer is responsible for $49 payment to Amazon.com plus taxes and shipping.

Thanks for writing, Len!
Thanks so much for posting all that detail!
For those of you who don’t know, Len has The Kindle Chronicles podcast…I recommend it.

And just to clarify, the deal is for the Special Offers Mindle, so that’s $109 new, $69 refurb, $49 with the voucher.

Thanks for writing, Dave!
The Special Offers Mindle would normally be $79…at least in the USA.

Hi Bufo,
I checked my Mindle, nothing linke this is available to me. I explicitly asked it to sync, no change, I have like 7 offers there. Maybe location dependent ? I am in Europe.

Thanks for writing, Marian!
Yes, the offers can be different in different places, especially with AmazonLocal.
Since I’m in the USA, I do tend to see more of that information, although I try to include European (and other) things when I see them.

It’s an Amazon Local deal so you can get it even if you don’t have an SO kindle. You get a voucher for $20 of a refurb basic k with ads. Must redeem by May 29.

Hmm…I wonder if that might suggest new models for June? Just thinking…

LOL @ Mindless typo.

Thanks!
I’m working on my phone so I am blaming Autocorrect …
Update: now that I’m on a computer with a keyboard…
Thanks for writing, Byteme!
Rather than a typo, what happened there was my SmartPHone’s autocorrect. I could have noticed it at the time and fixed it, but I didn’t. After that, it was tough to see the whole reply at the same time, so I couldn’t review it as well as I probably should have done.
Glad it amused you…I though it was funny when you pointed it out.
I liked the “Clumsy Thumbsy” feature on the Ellen Degeneres show as well.

No please don.t show us ads links. Etc. Have a great mute button on the Tv remote and use it religiously. I am having a problem playing words with friends as they are putting so many ads in between each play that I am thinking about uninstalling the game. Hats to do it tho as I mostly win. Lop. JB

Thanks for writing, jbgator9!
Yeah, we tend to pay the ninety-nine cents for some apps rather than getting an ad-supported version…just makes it easier. That’s especially true when the ads appear in the field of play, where you may click on them accidentally.

This comment pertains to ads, links, etc. Please don’t. pass them on. Just pretend you are our mute button, which is in use by me for most Tv ads. I record my favorite programs so that I can avoid the ads. By the way, thx for the tip on how to comment on the Fire. Much easier than jumping up and using ‘pouter. JB

I don’t mute much, but I do zoom through.
If it’s a show I am going to watch live, I sometimes wait for sixteen minutes before starting it (on Tivo), just so I can do that. An hour-long show has about sixteen minutes of commercials, but that can vary, I believe.

Just a couple of additional details: even though it’s a refurbished kindle, it includes a standard 1 year warranty. Also it’s Prime eligible. Someone above from Europe said they didn’t see this SO — that’s probably due to the fact that this deal is only shippable to US addresses.

Thanks for writing, Edward!
I think it was also an “AmazonLocal” deal, so those wouldn’t apply outside the USA…I think.

There’s a good special offer starting today for those who have a Discover card. You have to make the Discover card your default 1-click card, buy anything digital (I believe), and then you get a $10 Amazon gift card.

Thanks for writing, D.!
I thought we wouldn’t see that until the
Kindle Fire SD
was released until the day after tomorrow,
but it’s available now. It just seemed especially applicable to the new Fire, but you don’t need one to get the value.
Thanks for the heads-up!
