Pinterest coming to Kindle Fire…new hardware this week?
There’s been a lot of speculation about when Amazon might announce new hardware…I have to say, it’s reminded me of the old “Paul is dead clues” with the Beatles.
Well, I’ll toss another barefooted hand over the walrus…
dated yesterday (Tuesday, August 15), they say
That might have nothing to do with new hardware, of course, but software is often part of a hardware announcement.
Pinterest, for those of you who don’t know, is a super-popular site for sharing pictures. It is reported to be the third most popular social site, after Facebook and Twitter.
You know what would be a big advantage with a page with several pictures? A larger screen…
Today is the last day of a big Amazon promotion that allows Amazon.com Rewards Visa cardholders to buy some Kindles at 40% off.
Update: my reader Vonda Z gave me the heads up that the special offer has been extended until August 24th. That could mean we won’t get an announcement before a week from Friday…which might push a hypothetical announcement into the following week (I wouldn’t expect them to make a big announcement on a weekend). Thanks, Vonda! Oh, if you haven’t taken advantage of the deal yet, and you have the Amazon.com Rewards Visa, you have a longer chance to do so.
It might be counterproductive to announce new hardware at the same time that you were doing a promotion to clear out hardware. I’m not saying that’s what Amazon is doing…but they could be.
A Pinterest announcement later this week (Thursday or Friday) could, maybe, might be tied to an announcement of new hardware. Pinterest would be useful on the current Kindle Fire…but having it lined up so it could be part of announcement for future hardware could be a good part of the marketing.
Of course, we may go another week with no announcement…but I think that “anticipation fatigue” is building.
Update: the app is available now
