Freebie flash! Page-a-Day calendars
As usual, I don’t vouch for these books, and none of them block text-to-speech access. As promotional titles, they may not be free for long. Note: these books are free in the USA: prices in other countries may vary.
I love page-a-day calendars! It’s a tradition in my family that we get them at the holidays. Right now, I have two, and my Significant Other has two (one at home and one at work).
There’s something about the precision of just reading one page a day…I don’t ever look ahead. If I go on vacation, I wait until I get back for those pages.
What I don’t like about them? Recycling those pages…and that plastic holder thingie. That’s bothered me for some time.
Well, Andrews McMeel (one of the major companies doing page-a-day) is offering a batch of freebies we are listing in this Freebie Flash.
Is it going to be the same on a Kindle?
No…we don’t even have pages any more. I think we still have days…although I remember proposing a metric time system in high school (ten hours in a day, ten days in a week, that sort of thing). 😉

at least in the Cloud Reader these do not paginate right. The picture is on one page and the punch line is on the date page. I’ll wait to see if these page right in my new Fire next week but … kinda makes me worry.

Thanks for writing, loneybaloney!
That’s good to know…I’d try one on my current Kindle, but I don’t want to see a page ahead of time. 🙂

I would love to see Amazon offer a page-a-day calendar similar to one that I bought at a bookstore years ago. The calendar had a book recommendation for each day of the year. Books were selected from various publishers and genres. Some were bestsellers and some were lesser known. I believe the book store even offered a small discount on the book during the month it was featured. I liked reading the brief information about each book and I even found a few books that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. It was great! I am eagerly awaiting a similar offer from
Amazon.

Thanks for writing, Kim!
That sounds like fun. 🙂 Amazon already promotes books in a number of ways. For example, they have the Kindle Daily Deal:
Kindle Daily Deal
That features a new book each day at a considerable discount. We don’t see the bestsellers there much, in part because they tend to come from Agency Model publishers, and Amazon can not discount those.
If you do
Home-Menu-Shop in Kindle Store
on your Kindle, you’ll also be able to click on the Kindle Daily Post. I think that may be very much what you want.
I can see how a calendar would be run, though.

Thank you for the links! I sent a couple of the calendars to my Fire, so I will get to look next week.
If these work, hopefully they will publish a word-a-day calendar.

Thanks for writing, Jimi!
I suspect we’ll see a page a day calendar from McMeel for the Kindle soon.
