My kid has a blog! “Overheard on the Streets of Boston”

Regular readers have often read little things about my (adult) kid. While I do share things about what I think and how I feel, I really don’t think I share that many concrete details…and I’m not going to start now. 😉

However, I’m excited to share (and, I suppose, shamelessly plug) that my adult kid has finally been encouraged by enough friends to make a public blog.

It’s on Tumblr, and this is it:

Overheard on the Streets of Boston

Although, if you visit Tumblr, it encourages you to sign up, you don’t have to do that to read this. If you do, you get the advantage of being able to “follow” a Tumblr blog…sure, I’d like my kid to have more followers, but totally up to you.

What is the blog?

My kid works in Boston, and walks through town (as a lot of people do). This is literally what the name suggests: just small snippets of conversation that my kid has heard and shares.

It’s probably better that I don’t explain it too much. 😉

I think it’s fair to say that I think it helps that my kid is a linguist, although all of the posts (at least so far) are in English…well, it helps if you understand Spanish for one of them.

In my opinion, the posts are quirky and droll…I think many readers of this blog will be amused.

I should also say, and I think this is a good thing, that we have different sensibilities. My kid uses words in the blog that I wouldn’t, and…I guess it might be a bit edgier than what I do here. 🙂

If you want to give it a look, I’d appreciate it. If you follow it, even better. 🙂 I’m proud of my kid, and even prouder that this is something quite different from what I would do.

Bufo, I thought youd like to know that my repeated efforts both by clicking on the provided links in your email AND on your web page) and by copying & pasting failed to get me to your kids blog. Instead, I get this message: The URL you requested could not be found.

Bufo, I want to amend & expand upon my earlier (partly mistaken) post. Clicking on the link in your email did NOTHING at all. Clicking on the same link on your web page DID result in the failure I described earlier. However, after sending you my earlier message, out of curiosity I clicked on the set of two “boxes at the upper righthand corner of the page where the not found message appeared. Then I WAS able to see the blog! Its VERY amusing! Thanks for the heads-up about it.

      Thanks for writing, Elaine!

There was a problem with the HTML, which is quite disappointing. 😦 However, I fixed it quickly after seeing your comment (thanks!), and that may be why it worked when you clicked where you did. It may work for you now in the e-mail and webpage.

      I’m glad you liked it!

      Thanks for writing, Connie!

I liked it too, but I figured I might be a bit prejudiced. 😉 I’ll let my kid know about the reactions here…thanks for taking the time to look!

I got the Not Found thing from the link as well. Does that mean ya have to me a member of the site to find it?

    • Bufo Calvin Says:

      Thanks for writing, tellthetruth1!

You definitely don’t have to be a member, since I could see it when I wasn’t. This is frustrating! I just tried it again from my blogsite: no problem.

Update: Tried again after reading another comment here and got in!

      Thanks for writing, tellthetruth1!

I’m glad you got into it! There was a problem, but I fixed it…not sure why you would have encountered it, unless by going to the comment you refreshed the post, getting the corrected version…

No, the link took me to the same fault after reading the other person’s comment. I clicked the icon representing a file cabinet and got into the blog from that! 🙂

I’ve been trying to subscribe on feeddler but cannot. Any ideas?

    • Bufo Calvin Says:

      Thanks for writing, Connie!

I’ve heard of Feedler, but have never used it (not an Apple user). What do you need to give them for it to work? The RSS (Really Simple Syndication) information?

  7. Connie Says:

Re feeddler— you just put in the name of the blog usually. Easy for the reader, but I wondered if the blogger needed to do something to get on there. However, I have bookmarked it on my ipad, so I will still be able to read it easily.
