Book highlights at San Diego Comic-Con 2018

I saw a Twitter poll this year which asked what announcements people were most anticipating out of San Diego Comic-Con…TV, movie, comics, other. I think those might have been the choices.

I picked “other”, and explained that they aren’t usually announcements, but I’m always interested in the (non-comic) book panels and authors.

Here’s the schedule:

and if you click on one book-related topic, you can click on the tag for Books and filter the whole schedule. If you do “Writers and Writing”, that will include comic book writers, so I think Books makes for a better result.

Here are some highlights:

Panels and presentations

These are some of the authors that will be there. When authors are at a con (convention), they often aren’t there every day, but you may actually get a chance to speak with them…even, maybe, one-on-one. When they aren’t on stage, they may be in the Dealers’ Room (we used to call it a Huckster’s Room, back in the day), maybe selling/signing books. Oh, if you go, let us know if any of the authors are giving away Kindle versions with Amazon’s new

“Buy Kindle Books for Others”

technique. They’ll have a URL for you (or maybe a QR Code).

  • Cory Doctorow
  • Alex Grecian
  • Elizabeth Hand
  • Deborah Harkness
  • Nalo Hopkinson
  • E.K. Johnston
  • David Mack
  • Daniel José Older
  • R.A. Salvatore
  • Ron Turner (publisher, Last Gasp)
  • P.C. Cast
  • Kristin Cast
  • Peter Clines
  • Jonathan Maberry
  • Sherrilyn Kenyon
  • Mary E. Pearson

Please note that that’s not nearly all of them, and isn’t meant to diminish anybody I didn’t list! Feel free to mention more authors speaking at SDCC, even yourself (in your own words…no canned bios or ads) by commenting on this post.

Enjoy the con!

* I am linking to the same thing at the regular Amazon site, and at AmazonSmile. When you shop at AmazonSmile, half a percent of your purchase price on eligible items goes to a non-profit you choose. It will feel just like shopping at Amazon: you’ll be using your same account. The one thing for you that is different is that you pick a non-profit the first time you go (which you can change whenever you want)…and the good feeling you’ll get. :) Shop ’til you help! :)
